Challenge: Present the 12 operational divisions of the US Department of Health and Human Services as “One HHS.”

Solution: Following a discovery process with representatives from each of HHS’ 12 Operational Divisions (OpDivs), HORNE created Exceptional Careers for Extraordinary People. The campaign was designed to attract people who are motivated by mission more than money and who see HHS as a place where their dedication will have a positive impact on the organization and the public that HHS serves.

A graphic treatment of 12 colored boxes — one for each of the HHS OpDivs — is carried throughout a 28-page brochure and trade show displays. We also interviewed 30 of HHS’ best and brightest employees, included their testimonials and complemented the copy with animated graphics. We then used those treatments to produce a compelling video.

Result: HHS uses the brochure for recruitment, as well as new employee orientation. We were also asked to expand the campaign with an additional Slim Jim brochure, a mini-DVD version of the video and a larger-font version of the tri-fold brochure to accommodate universal viewing needs.
